Chip Potter

Owner

Since first learning how to create bowls and vases with a Shop Smith during childhood, Chip has always loved woodworking. This creative calling led Chip to pursue training in mechanical engineering. Throughout his nearly forty-year career, Chip has always remained faithful to his interest in woodworking, having worked for many years with pattern-maker, mentor, and close friend George Cornog. It was George’s wish that after his passing the high-quality, timeless woodworking machinery in his workshop would find its way to Chip. Throughout his career, Chip has had numerous fascinating endeavors, and he is excited to be investing in New Leaf Woodworks.

Matt Blackburn

Master Woodworker

Matt Blackburn’s interest in woodworking started in middle school woodshop when he would often come in before class and start to work on his projects before class began. This continued in high school, where Matt won best in show for the grandfather clock, he built his senior year.  While on a field trip to one of the finest furniture making shops, he knew that furniture-making and woodworking would be his profession. In 1998, Matt accepted a position at that shop as an apprentice. Over the following six years, Matt mastered furniture making and millwork techniques.  In 2004, Matt’s application to the renowned North Bennet Street School (Boston, MA) was accepted, affording him the ability to refine his traditional hand woodworking skills. As the Master Woodworker at New Leaf Woodworks, Matt looks forward to using his over two decades of experience and broad woodworking skill set to bring your vision to reality.
